Alright here’s the deal, at this stage of the year, you’re either in or you’re out. For those of you that are in the playoffs, your starting lineup is pretty much set in stone, and you already have a good idea of who you’re going to play these last few weeks. So, from now-on, I’ll give you a few players at each position that I’d actually feel comfortable inserting directly into my starting lineup. As for those of you who are on the outside looking in, well, better luck next year.
QB – Jake Locker – TEN – Hopefully you don’t need to start a waiver QB at this point, but if you somehow made the playoffs with Jay Cutler (who could miss this weeks’ game with a concussion), and missed out on Kaepernick or Wilson, then Locker is your guy. Looked solid in Sunday’s game against the Colts (minus the pick 6 from his own end zone), and he gets the Jets on Monday night this week.
WR – Josh Gordon – CLE – Cooled of considerably after tearing it up in weeks 5-7, but it looks like he may be on the way back up with 14 receptions for 202 yards and 1 TD in his last two games. Plus, he gets to face a Redskins team that’s given up big plays in the passing game all season.
WR – Jason Avant – PHI – Had a huge day with 7 receptions for 133 yards on 12 targets against the Buccaneers Sunday. Seems to have a solid rapport with Nick Foles, and plays a bad Cincinnati secondary on Thursday night.
RB – Bilal Powell – NYJ – Mentioned him last week and he continues to put up solid fantasy points. This week, he got 17 carries and turned them into 78 yards and 1 TD – his 4th TD in as many weeks. Plays Tennessee on Monday night, and I like his chances to get in the end zone again.
RB – Montell Owens – JAX – Truly the last man standing, so if you’re desperate, at least you know he’ll get the work. However, I don’t expect much against a stout Miami run defense. Don’t forget Owens wasn’t having that great of a day against the Jets until he ripped off a late, garbage time, touchdown.
TE – Clay Harbor – PHI – Brent Celek has already been ruled out of Thursday’s game against the Bengals, so Harbor will get the start. Put up solid numbers in place of Celek on Sunday, catching all 6 of his targets for 52 yards and 1 TD. I could see similar production out of him on Thursday.
TE – Tony Scheffler – DET – If you’re desperate and miss out on Harbor, it looks like Pettigrew may miss this weeks’ game against Arizona, so Scheffler could be in for a nice day. Got 10 targets in his place Sunday night against the Packers, but could only reel in 3 of them for 20 yards and 1 TD.
DEF – Detroit vs. Arizona – Cincinnati vs. Philadelphia – St. Louis vs. Minnesota – Green Bay vs. Chicago – Miami vs. Jacksonville – Tennessee vs. NYJ – NYJ vs. Tennessee – New England vs. San Francisco
Good luck to everyone this week! If you have any other questions, feel free to ask us on Facebook or Twitter!
