This week was pretty boring in terms of fantasy news; no big time injuries, and no big time breakouts. However, there are a few wide receivers to target this week. Two of which exploded out of their bye weeks; Jacoby Ford and Earl Bennett. Ford starred in the Raiders loss to the Broncos on Sunday. He consistently beat his man, and made people miss after the catch; much like Bennett last night. My guess going forward is that Bennett will be the more valuable guy, simply because he seems like the missing piece for the Bears receiving corp. If you need a receiver for the rest of the year, I’d aim for one of these two.
If you only need a guy for a couple weeks; perhaps until Andre Johnson comes back, your man is Laurant Robinson. After Miles Austin went down with a hamstring injury, Robinson stepped up in a big way. Much like he did earlier in the season when Austin suffered a similar injury on the other leg. Robinson could very well be the key in your run to the fantasy playoffs; not sure what his value is then, but who knows how long Austin will miss.
*Keep in mind, there are no bye weeks this week, so a lot of these guys are only playable in deep formats.
QB – Carson Palmer – OAK – Could have a big week against a Chargers defense that just got exploited by Aaron Rodgers; granted Palmer is no Rodgers, but still.
QB – Alex Smith – SF – He’s been surprisingly consistent. I’d expect another serviceable week against the Giants.
WR – Jerome Simpson – CIN – Had 10 targets Sunday, and Dalton has proven he can chuck it. Monitor how the offense is run once Benson is back though.
WR – Damian Williams – TEN – Mentioned him a few weeks ago, and now could be in for a significant bump in targets if Washington misses time.
WR – Denarius Moore – OAK – Started ahead of Heyward-Bey on Sunday, and led the team with 12 targets.
RB – Roy Helu – WAS – A poor mans Matt Forte. 17 targets on Sunday and I’d expect something similar every week. For some reason, Beck just doesn’t throw the ball down field, and with Moss out, Davis and Helu are the entire offense.
RB – Michael Bush – OAK – Looks like McFadden will miss Thursday nights game against the Chargers.
RB – Kendall Hunter – SF – Gore injured his ankle Sunday, and now is the time of year Gore usually breaks down; as sad as it is to say. If you’re looking for a flyer, bet on Hunter.
