A whopping 4 defenses were in the top 13 in fantasy scoring this week. If you were one of the wise owners who started either the Lions, Bills, or Bengals, you deserve an applause. If you were the one owner in your league that started the Rams, you were rewarded for stupidity; sorry, but I challenge you to start a defense against the Saints the rest of the year. Anyway, on to my point – Ditch your defense and aim for friendly match-ups. I don’t care if you own the Ravens or the Jets, you’re better off going week-to-week because the match-ups are getting very predictable. From here on out, target defenses that play against the Seahawks, Dolphins, Colts, Broncos, and Jaguars, when you can. If those match-ups aren’t available, take a look at who is going against the Rams, Cowboys, Chargers, Jets, and Redskins, because they could also be in for big fantasy performances as these teams turn the ball over a ton.
QB – Matt Cassel – KC – Once again, Cassel finds himself on my list of pick-ups. He didn’t have a great night Monday against the Chargers, but they’re letting him sling it, and has a nice match-up this week with a Miami team that Eli Manning just gashed.
QB – Sam Bradford – STL – Assuming he comes back this week, he’s got a friendly match-up with the Cardinals. Looking even further ahead, you’ll see he has a pretty easy schedule the rest of the way.
WR – Jonathan Baldwin – KC – He is an absolute freak. All he needs is more playing time and he’ll put up fantasy-starter type numbers.
WR – Victor Cruz – NYG – Even if Hakeem Nicks plays this week, he’ll see plenty of targets against the awful Patriots pass defense. And if Nicks happens to miss the game, watch out, he could have a monster day with multiple scores.
WR – Antonio Brown – PIT – Had another double-digit target day and finally scored a touchdown on Sunday. The Steelers have been playing much better as a “pass-first” team, so I don’t see them going back to handing Mendenhall the ball 20+ times a game.
WR – Greg Little – CLE – Don’t give up on him yet. Although he didn’t have a productive day, McCoy still targeted him 11 times. He gets the Texans in week 9, expect a big game.
RB – Javon Ringer – TEN – Stash him now. Chris Johnson’s nickname should be changed to CJ2.8ypc. Alright, maybe that’s a reach, but still, Ringer looks like the better back.
RB – Chris Ogbonnaya – CLE – Hardesty is likely to miss week 9, and who knows about Hillis. If they’re both out, Ogbonnaya will receive all the carries against the Texans.
RB – Kevin Faulk – NE – If you’re way down this week, Faulk could be a nice play against the Giants in a game that’ll likely be a shootout.
TE – Brent Celek – PHI – Welcome back to fantasy relevance, Brent. Had 9 targets in week 8, and has scored a TD in each of his last two games.
TE – Heath Miller – PIT – He won’t be facing the Patriots every week, but if the Steelers continue to air-it-out (as I expect) he could have value.
