Fantasy owners all around should be happy Brandon Lloyd has moved on to St. Louis. He steps into a better situation (no offense Tim Tebow) where a lot of targets are available, and he’ll be the clear cut number 1. His presence will no doubt help Sam Bradford, Steven Jackson, Brandon Gibson, and Danario Alexander. But the player who stands to benefit most is Denver Broncos wide receiver, Demaryius Thomas. Thomas was the Broncos 1st round pick last season, and first WR off the board; ahead of Dez Bryant. He no doubt has talent, but injuries have held him back. He’s healthy now, and scheduled to return this week at Miami. It’s hard to believe the Broncos would make this move without believing they have someone to fill his role. So, I expect big things from Thomas the rest of the year.
Prediction – 40-Receptions 700-Yards 4-Touchdowns
QB – Matt Cassel – KC – See Week 5 Fantasy Pick-ups.
QB – Jay Cutler – CHI – Very favorable match-up this week against Tampa Bay.
WR – Jerome Simpson – CIN – Looks much more involved in the offense for the first time since his off-the-field debacle in week 3. Maybe his performance this week will lead to more targets out of the bye week.
WR – Danario Alexander – STL – Had a nice week this week but couldn’t find the end zone. Lloyd should open up the field for him, and the Rams have a very favorable schedule the rest of the way.
WR – Greg Little – CLE – Targeted 12 times on Sunday for 6 receptions and 72 yards. The Browns vowed to get him more involved out of their bye week and I’d say they accomplished that. Wouldn’t be surprised for him to keep this pace up every week.
RB – Jackie Battle – KC – If he’s still available because of the bye week last week, pick him up now. He should take over as the primary back soon, and has a great match-up with the Raiders this week.
RB – Tashard Choice – DAL – Felix Jones is out 2-4 weeks with a high-ankle sprain. The Cowboys play the Rams, Eagles, Seahawks and Bills; all run-friendly defenses.
RB – DeMarco Murray – DAL – Same reasons as Choice. Murray could be in for a few breakout weeks, but his pass protection is what will hurt him and why I think Choice will be more valuable while Jones is out.
RB – Montario Hardesty – CLE – Hillis injured his hamstring (queue the Madden Curse debate) and is rumored to be on the trading block. Hardesty is obviously a must-own if Hillis gets traded, but even if he doesn’t go, Hardesty still has value. Hillis’ hamstring could linger all season long, and Hardesty has been receiving more and more work every week.
TE – Fred Davis – WAS – Must-own with Cooley likely done for the season with a shattered finger. Whether it’s Rex Grossman or John Beck moving forward, Davis is likely to be heavily targeted like early in the season.
TE – Lance Kendricks – STL – Is Kendricks finally starting to live up to the preseason hype? It remains to be seen, but definitely worth a pick-up if you’re down at TE.
