  11. Houston (6-10) – Aldon Smith, DE/OLB, Missouri (AS)
  12. Minnesota (6-10) – DaQuan Bowers, DE, Clemson (DP) – I think Bowers is too good to pass up here. Think the Vikings will look hard at Tyron Smith and Ryan Kerrigan but the upside of Bowers will prevail in the end. Of course, this can obviously change based on the medical report the Vikings have compiled on Bowers. If they think his knee is bad enough, they’d take him off their board completely. No one really knows, but I’ll give Bowers the benefit of the doubt for now.
  13. Detroit (6-10) – Tyron Smith, OT, USC (AS)
  14. St. Louis (7-9) – Ryan Kerrigan, DE, Purdue (DP)
  15. Miami (7-9) – Mark Ingram, RB, Alabama (DP)

  22. Indianapolis (10-6) – Mike Pouncey, OL, Florida (CM)
  23. Philadelphia (10-6) – Jimmy Smith, CB, Colorado (AS)

43. Minnesota (6-10) – Rahim Moore, S, UCLA – Have you seen Madieu Williams play football? Great guy in the community, terrible football player. If Mallett falls, he would be the pick. I find that to be very unlikely though. Vikings are in a tough spot as they aren’t really in position to take a quarterback value-wise unless they plan on moving up to early in round 2. (DP)

105. Minnesota (6-10) – DJ Williams, TE, Arkansas – This pick makes a lot of sense for a couple reasons. The first and most primary reason is that the Vikings like to run a lot of two tight-end sets and having Jim Kleinsasser on the field, while effective as a blocker, is simply hurting the versatility of the offense. He is a one trick pony. The second reason is because DJ Williams is a good football player. He has some durability concerns but he is a well rounded tight end who can get some separation. The third reason is because Visanthe Shiancoe isn’t getting any younger and didn’t exactly have the greatest season last year. Part of that is the ineffective quarterback play, but this is a what-have-you-done-for-me-lately league. He’s also due for a new contract soon. Williams is a good, safe pick that could eventually take over for Shank if the Vikings choose not to re-sign him. (DP)

The more I read and listen to what people are saying, the more I think Locker, Ponder and maybe Mallett and Dalton sneak into that first round. With no free agency, I think teams without QBs don’t want to get left behind, especially if the lockout goes until July or August.

I think the Vikings reach on Locker or trade down for Ponder.
